Virtual Marin is an OpenSim virtual world, currently under development, that contains a replica of Mount Tamalpais generated from USGS topographic data. I’ll post photos from Virtual Marin in the near future. You can see the virtual Mount Tamalpais in the photo at the top of this page.
Currently Virtual Marin is hosted on a server using a home dsl internet connection. Because of bandwidth limitations it’s not yet open to public memberships, but if you are on the Hypergrid you can use any OpenSim-capable viewer to teleport to it at marin.us.com:8002. You’re welcome to teleport to Virtual Marin and pay a visit.
Virtual Marin is a project of long-time Marin resident Erik Gordon Bainbridge (avatar names Apollo Manga and Hawk Lightcloud).
